Tango receives painting from Jim Howle, World Famous Painter of Clowns
SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 12, 2007 --
Edward "LoMax" Estrin and Leah "Tango" Estrin, members
of North County Clown Conspiracy, WCA, CI and COAI,
went to Clown Camp at the University of Wisconsin, La
Crosse this past week (June 3 - 10, 2007) and spent
their time learning more about the clown arts. They
attended classes given by some of the best clowns in
the country and joined other clowns at a Cancer
Survivor gathering in La Crosse on Tuesday
entertaining the attendees.
But the highlight for Leah Estrin was on Monday night when she
was presented with a portrait of her clown, Tango,
painted by Jim Howle.
A former member of the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus Jim was selected as the Big Show's official artist. He left the show in 1974 to pursue his painting career. Jim has captured the heart and soul of clowning through the Contemporary American Clowns and Red Nose Philosopher series of paintings, the first three Clown Hall of Fame Inductee posters, and other paintings. His work is included in the Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute and the Leningrad Gallery. There are clown collectible cards of his work available. He was inducted into the Clown Hall of Fame in 1993.
